In order to realize the dream that I had always longed for, I decided to take the plunge and retire last year at the age of 44 from the company I had worked for for 22 years, and decided to study abroad in Italy. I was looking for a school where I could make the gelato I wanted to make, and I found Accademia Riaci.

ずっと憧れていた夢を実現する為、思い切って去年22年間勤めた会社を44歳で退職し、イタリア留学を決意。自分の作りたいジェラートを形に出来る学校を探し、アカデミアリアチに出会いました。

Gelato Internship Course (#17-18) – K

Week 17

May 19 (Mon) 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Italian private lesson. Conversation useful for internships and homework review. It’s reassuring to be able to meet with the teacher once a week, even if only for an hour.
5月19日(月)12時から1時間イタリア語プライベートレッスン。インターンで使いそうな会話と宿題の答え合わせ。週に一度、1時間でも先生に会える環境は心強いです。

May 20 (Tue) Today, I went to a Japanese restaurant to eat sushi. When it gets hot, I want to eat light Japanese food. The menu and combinations are unlike anything I’ve seen in Japan. I regretted not making it myself…
5月20日(火)今日は、日本料理のお店へお寿司を食べにいきました。暑くなると、さっぱりした和食が食べたくなります。日本では見ないようなメニューと組み合わせです。やっぱり自分で作った方が美味しいかも…後悔しました。

May 21 (Wed) Since arriving in Italy, my allergy symptoms have worsened, so I went to the hospital. From making the appointment to the examination, I was confused by the unfamiliar language and system, but it’s encouraging to see that I can gradually do more things on my own. During the allergy test, they injected ten spots with a syringe and waited ten minutes, after which two spots swelled up and itched like mosquito bites. This was the cause of my allergies and discomfort.
5月21日(水)イタリアに来てからアレルギー症状が酷く、病院へ行きました。予約から、診察、慣れない言語とシステムに戸惑いながらも、少しずつ自分でできることが増えていくと嬉しい。アレルギー検査では、注射器で十箇所打ち10分待つと、蚊に刺されたように膨らみ痒みが二箇所発生。これがアレルギー、不調の原因でした。

Week 18

May 26 (Mon) 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Private Italian lesson. We started with conversation about the weekend. We created sentences based on printed pictures. It was difficult to turn everyday scenes into sentences rather than conversation.
5月26日(月)10時から1時間イタリア語プライベートレッスン。週末の会話から始まる。絵が書いてあるプリントから文章を作っていく。日常が描かれているのに、会話ではなく文章にするのは難しいと感じた。

May 27 (Tue) This morning, on my way to my internship. Even the familiar path I walk every day has scenery that makes me stop in my tracks. Gelato study abroad! Taking action changed my life. In Florence, I’m living at my own pace. At 45, starting from scratch, working with Italians in the place I chose, and building my own space—it all comes down to the daily accumulation of efforts.
5月27日(火)今朝は、インターン先へ向かう通勤路。毎日通る道も思わず足が止まる景色。ジェラート留学!行動したことで人生が変わったFirenzeで自分のペースで生きる。45歳でゼロから学ぶこと、選択した場所でイタリア人と働き、自分の場所を作っていくには、日々の積み重ねしかない。

May 28 (Wed) On the way home from work, I discovered a wonderful object. This kind of creativity is unique to Italy, where art is part of daily life. The excitement continues even on the way home.
5月28日(水)仕事帰り、素敵なオブジェを発見。この発想、芸術の中で生活しているイタリアならでは。帰り道もワクワクが止まらない。
