Furniture Design vol.2 – Master Course 2018 (s.s)
Early this week, our lesson was about lights. Our teacher discussed to us the different types of lights or lamps in a lighting system. He also showed to us a sample on what light to use in a certain spaces and how it works. This includes reading symbols and legends of a floor plan.
Another lesson he taught to us was the material, glass. He tackled to us different types of glass. Where certain types of glass can be used and also the durability of each glass is.
After days of playing around with shapes and lines for my first product, I’ve finally come up with a form for a coffee table. Our teacher told me to make my product stable and durable. Right now, I’m exploring other options and solutions to make the proper revisions for my coffee table. He also told me to give variations on my choice of color for my table and to add more playfulness to it.
Last weekend, my mom and step dad visited me. We toured around Florence on a tourist bus, visited the main attractions, and ate a lot of Italian food. We really enjoyed everything that we saw, ate, and most especially, our time together. Hopefully on their next visit, they will have a longer visit in Florence, and I’ll be able to tour them around with much knowledge about the place.
On our art visit, we went to Badia Fiorentina. The church was one of the oldest church in Florence. Our teacher told to us that that tower is the tallest building in Florence. It is the only pointy bell tower in Florence as well. When we entered the church, I was amazed by the intricate details of the ceiling. Up to now, I’m still amazed by the craftsmanship the people had before and how dedicated they are in their work of art.
