This is the final week of metal engraving. We’ll be adding openwork engraving to the rings we made last week.
To give the rings a rounded shape, we’ll place them inside a hemispherical plate and hammer them.
彫金の最終週となりました。先週作ったリングに透かし彫りをします。
リングに丸みを出すために、半球状の板にリングを入れて、たたきます。

Just this small change gave the rings a softer impression.
ちょっとしたことで、リングが柔らかい印象に変化しました。

I sketched my own design onto the ring and carefully cut it out with a coping saw, following the pattern exactly. Since I designed it with four motifs linked together, ensuring all four were identical was surprisingly difficult.
自分で考えたデザインをリングに書いて、その図柄通りに糸鋸でくり抜いていきます。1つのモチーフが4つ連なるデザインにしたので、4つ全てがきちんと同じモチーフになるようにくり抜くのは想像以上に難しかったです。

I welded flat rings to both sides, completing my first openwork piece.
Some parts didn’t cut cleanly and are jagged, but this adds a unique charm only possible with handwork.
平らのリングを両サイドに溶接して、初めての透かし彫りが完成しました。
上手く切れずギザギザな部分もありますが、手作業ならではの味があります。

Over five weeks, I managed to create many pieces! Since everything is handmade, I feel a deep attachment to each one. I plan to practice Florentine engraving and apply it to one of these pieces. I’m looking forward to next week too.
計5週間でたくさんの作品を作ることができました！どれも全て手作業なので、愛着が湧きます。フィレンツェ彫りを練習して、この作品のどれかに彫る予定です。来週からも楽しみです。

Wanting to try making things beyond metalwork, I participated in a perfume workshop.
From 198 different fragrances, you select and blend five. The scent changes depending on the proportions, so after blending and testing once, you adjust the ratios again. In the end, I created a pleasant fragrance.
彫金以外にも物作りをしたいと思い、香水のワークショップをしてみました。
198種類の香料から、5種類を選んで調合します。配分によっても香りが異なるので、一度調合して試した後に、再度配合比率を調整します。最後には心地よい香りが完成しました。

For the Art Visit, we toured the towers scattered throughout the city. I learned that prominent families of the time built these towers as symbols of their authority. I discovered many things I’d never noticed before, like the meaning behind differences in tower height and window shapes. The streets I usually walked through without a second thought felt like a new place.
Art Visitでは、街中にある塔を巡りました。当時の有力な家が権威の象徴として塔を建てたそうです。塔の高さや窓の形の違いの意味など、今まで気が付かなかったことをたくさん教えてもらいました。普段何気なく歩いていた街並みが新しい場所に感じました。

For the Cultural Activity, we went to the antique market in Arezzo. There were shops selling various items like silverware, pottery, accessories, and furniture. It was a fun market just to browse. I found and bought a lovely cup and saucer.
Cultural ActivityはArezzo（アレッツォ）のアンティークマーケットに行きました。銀食器や陶器、アクセサリーや家具など、様々なジャンルのお店がありました。見ているだけでも楽しいマーケットでした。素敵なカップ＆ソーサーを見つけて購入しました。
