7/14 Day 1
Today marks the halfway point of the course… It’s gone by in a flash, but when I think back to the beginning, it feels like quite some time has passed. However, every day has been so fulfilling that I can’t help but wonder how often something like this happens in life, haha.
I enjoyed a seaside resort in Naples over the weekend, but now that I’m back in Florence, I find myself strangely nostalgic for the Tuscan mountains.
Today, we’ll continue working on the ring with the Firenze engraving from last week. Carving the pattern into the ring with a chisel is tricky. Then we’ll weld it with solder, which is also quite challenging (sweat), but I’m starting to get a sense of how it’ll turn out! I’m really looking forward to it. For lunch today, I went to Gusto Leo, my favorite restaurant among those that accept meal coupons. They have a wide variety of pasta and pizza, and everything is delicious. Even after eating plenty of pasta in Naples, I still can’t get enough of it. Speaking of which, since I was running out of ingredients, I stopped by the nearby supermarket (ESSELUNGA) on the way home. Foreign supermarkets are really fun. Today, I bought some rice to try making risotto. I bought the Carnaroli variety. It’s similar in size to Japanese rice, but it has a fragrant aroma. I cooked it without rinsing, following the recipe. It turned out a bit too firm, but the taste was good! I also bought fruits, yogurt, and other items. I thought I bought detergent, but I accidentally bought fabric softener instead! I should have asked before buying, haha. By the way, fabric softener is called “Ammorbidente” in Italian.

今日でコースの半分が終了・・・あっという間ですが、最初のころを思い出すとそれなりに時がたったような。でもとても毎日充実して、こんなことって人生でどれくらいあるかな？と思わず考えてしまいます、笑
週末はナポリで海のリゾートを満喫しましたが、Firenzeに帰ってきたらまたトスカーナの山並みが懐かしく感じる不思議。
さて、今日は先週からの続きのFirenze彫を施すリングの作成です。リングにイトノコで模様を切り込んでいくのですが、難しいです。その後ロー材で溶接していきますが、これもまた難易度高し（汗）ですが、出来上がりのイメージが何となくついてきました！とても楽しみ。今日のランチは、ミールクーポンが使えるお店の中でも一番のお気に入りのGusto Leo. ここはパスタもピザも種類が多くておいしいです。ナポリで散々パスタを食べたけど、まだまだ飽きないパスタ。そうそう、今日はそろそろ食材がなくなりそうだったので、帰りに近所のスーパー（ESSELUNGA）に買い出しへ。外国のスーパーってホントに楽しいです。今日はリゾットを作ってみようとお米を買ってみました。Carnaroliという種類を買ってみました。日本のお米と似たような大きさですが、香りが香ばしく、レシピを見ながら洗わずそのまま調理。ちょっと硬すぎたかな。でもお味はGood! そのほか、フルーツやヨーグルトなどを購入。洗剤も買ったつもりだったけど、間違えて柔軟剤を買ってしまいました！聞いて買えばよかった、笑　ちなみに柔軟剤はAmmorbidente、だそうです。

7/15 Day 2
I started making this ring last week, and today I glued the stone setting in place, so it’s almost finished! All that’s left is to engrave it. Since it’s my first attempt, the precision of the engraving isn’t quite there yet, but it looks like it will turn out beautifully. Making traditional Florentine engraved jewelry by hand, piece by piece, really makes me appreciate its value. While intricate designs can be created by machines, I’m once again amazed by the beauty of craftsmanship that comes from handwork. If I had more time, I’d love to make another one!
It got hot again today, making it tough to walk around town after class, haha.
I’ve already been to my favorite sandwich shop (DE GHIOTTI) a few times since arriving in Florence, and I was craving their sandwiches again, so I lined up to go in. In Japan, I hate waiting in line, but here it doesn’t bother me at all. After placing your order, you’re given a ticket, so you wait at the counter while sipping an Aperol Spritz. It’s cold and delicious! My favorite is the #5 sandwich with spicy salami, spicy oil, and eggplant. The staff also recommended it, so if you like spicy food, I highly recommend giving it a try! ^^

先週から作成を始めたリング、今日石座を接着し、あらかた完成しました！あとは、彫りを入れるだけ。初期作だけに、まだイトノコの精度がいまいちですが、素敵な仕上がりになりそうです。一点一点手作りで作成する伝統的なフィレンツェ彫のジュエリーの価値は、作ってみて改めて実感します。精巧な作品は機械でも表現できるけれど、手仕事で仕上げる職人技のすばらしさに改めて感動します。時間が許せば、もう一つ作りたいところ！
今日はまた暑くなり、授業が終わった後の街歩きがつらくなってきます、笑
フィレンツェに来てもうすでに数回通っている大好きなサンドイッチ屋さん（DE GHIOTTI）のサンドイッチがまた恋しくなり、並んで入店しました。日本だと並ぶの大嫌いですが、こちらでは苦にならない不思議。注文したら整理券を渡されるので、カウンター席でアペロールスプリッツを飲んで待ちます。冷えてておいしい！お気に入りは＃5のスパイシーなサラミにスパイシーなオイルとなすが入っているサンドイッチ。お店の人もおすすめって言ってましたので、スパイシーがお好きな方はぜひトライしてみてほしいです^^

7/16 Day 3
Today, I finished the Florence ring before engraving it! It has a voluminous yet openwork design, so it’s not too heavy and is a very beautiful design. I placed discs on the top and bottom of the ring, which added a luxurious feel and made it another favorite design. After that, I started creating a solitaire ring with the 8mm round-cut stone I purchased last time as the main stone. First, we create the stone setting to match the shape of the stone. It’s a prong-set ring, but the design from the side is also beautiful, so I’m considering making it a birthday present for my daughter. But I might change my mind and keep it for myself? Haha.
Florence’s city center is in the midst of the tourist high season, so it’s surprisingly crowded. The Duomo, a famous tourist spot, is right next to the school, so there are many tourists hanging around the square, which is very different from the quiet and peaceful image I had when I visited last time (which was in winter). Winter was quiet and beautiful, but at that time, Japanese people were still rare, so I remember being approached by many people… haha.
Today, I was in the mood for something healthy, so I went to Rosalia, a salad restaurant. With a drink coupon, I also got a fruit juice, which was great. The ginger juice was delicious! The restaurant was full, so I had a leisurely lunch in the shade of a tree (or was it the shadow of a building?) in the square. After that, I went to the gelato shop again. I’ve gotten pretty good at eating gelato without bumping into people in the crowd. ^^

本日はフィレンツェ彫リングが彫を入れる前までの段階で完成しました! ボリュームがありながら、透かし彫りのデザインになっているので重すぎずとても素敵なデザインです。指輪の上下に円盤を設置しましたが、それがまた豪華感をプラスし、またまたお気に入りのデザインとなりました。その後、前回購入した8ミリのラウンドカットの石が主役のソリターレリングの作成に入りました。まずは石の形に合わせて石座から作成します。いわゆる爪留のリングなのですが、横からのデザインも美しく、これは娘のお誕生日プレゼントにしようかと考えております。でも気が変わって自分のにしちゃうかも？笑
フィレンツェの街中は観光のハイシーズンということで、驚くほどの人でいっぱいです。観光名所のドゥオーモが学校から本当にすぐなので、大勢の観光客が広場にたむろしていて、前回来た時（これは冬でしたが）の閑散とした静かなイメージとは大違い。冬はまたしっとりしていて、静かで素敵でしたが。その当時まだ日本人が珍しかったのかいろんなところで話しかけられた記憶が…笑
さて、今日は何となくヘルシーな気分だったので、サラダのお店のロザリアへ。ドリンククーポンでフルーツジュースもついて最高です。ジンジャージュースが美味でした！お店が満席だったので、広場の木陰（建物の影？）でのんびりランチ。その後またジェラートにお店に行ってしまいました。人混みの中、人にジェラートをぶつけないようにして食べるのも、だいぶうまくなってきました。^^

7/17 Day 4
Today, we continued working on the Solitaire Ring. A solitaire ring is a simple ring that highlights the beauty of a single gemstone, such as a single diamond. It is similar to Tiffany’s engagement ring design (although not exactly the same).
The stone setting (the part that holds the gemstone) was very detailed and required a lot of concentration. The teacher quickly demonstrated how to do it, but it was quite challenging to replicate. However, the result was beautiful! The delicate design allows light to enter from the sides, making the stone sparkle.

本日は、ソリターレリングの続きです。ソリターレとはいわゆる一粒ダイアなど1石の宝石の美しさが際立つシンプルなリングのこと。ティファニーの婚約指輪のデザインというとわかりやすいですかね。（全く同じというわけではありませんが）
石座（宝石を設置するパーツ）の作りこみが非常に細かくて集中しました。先生はあっという間に、「こうやってね」と、見本を見せてくれますが、これがなかなか同じようにはいきません。しかし美しい仕上がり！デリケートなデザインのため、横から光がたくさんはいって、石が輝くデザインです。

Today is Thursday, and in the afternoon, we had an Art Visit to Sant Spirito Church near the Arno River. At religious sites like churches, camisoles and shorts are prohibited. It was hot, so many people were dressed that way, but cloths to cover shoulders and legs were sold at the entrance. Inside the church, there was a solemn atmosphere, with murals (these are like custom-made altars) on both sides. I found it interesting to hear the explanation that each item worn or held by the saints and Christ in the paintings has religious symbolism. I was amazed by the realism of the statue of Christ crucified on the cross, which Michelangelo created when he was still in his teens. As a painter who detailed the structure of the human body and muscles, it is said that Michelangelo-style painters can be distinguished. Photography is prohibited inside the church, so I took a photo of the beautiful courtyard, which was once a place for monks to gather. It was hot, but the breeze made it a quiet and healing space.

今日は木曜で、午後にはArt Visitがあります。アルノ川の近くにあるSant Spirito Churchでした。教会などの宗教施設では、キャミソールや短パンは禁止。暑かったのでそういう服装の人が多めですが、受付で肩や足を覆う布が販売されています。教会の中は静粛な雰囲気で、壁画（これはいわゆるオーダーメイドの祭壇みたいなもの）が両サイドに設置されています。絵に出てくる聖人やキリストが身に着けたり持っているものに、それぞれ宗教的な比喩があるという説明を面白く聞きました。ミケランジェロがまだ10代の若さで作成したという、十字架に磔になったキリスト像のリアルさに感嘆。人体のしくみや筋肉を詳細に描く画家ということで、ミケランジェロ派の画家などが見分けられるそうです。教会内は撮影禁止なので、修道士の交流の場だったという美しい中庭を。暑かったですが、風が通って静かな癒しの空間でした。

On this day, I went to Ristorante Armando with a few classmates, a place I had visited before. It’s a cozy trattoria with many photos of former stars (like Benny Goodman!) who are believed to have visited the restaurant. On this day, I tried the ricotta cheese and spinach ravioli with butter and sage sauce, which I had been wanting to try, and the recommended rabbit main dish. It was truly delicious!
We paired the main course with Chianti wine. Ah, what a blissful experience!

この日はクラスメート数人で以前もいったRistorante Armandoへ。来店したと思われる往年のスター（ベニーグッドマンとか！）の写真がたくさん壁に飾ってある雰囲気のよいトラットリアです。この日は食べてみたかったリコッタチーズとほうれん草のラビオリ、バターセージ風味。あとはおすすめのウサギのメインディッシュ。これが本当に美味でした！

7/18 Day 5
Today is a day off. I did a little work in the morning and thought, “What should I do today?” But for some reason, my body felt really heavy… Maybe I’m really tired? I realized that every day has been so much fun, and I’ve been traveling a lot on the weekends, so I may be a little tired. So today is a day off. I spent the day relaxing at home, drinking espresso and writing student reports. Speaking of which, my auntie side has really come out (laughs). My younger brother had a baby in March this year, and he’s so cute! He’s a boy, but I just had to buy this! It’s a cute hooded jacket with a back print, even in Spain. He’s still too young for it now, but I’m already smiling thinking about how cute he’ll look in it someday, haha.

今日はお休みです。朝からちょっと仕事をして、さあ何をしよう？と思いましたが、なぜか体がすごく重い…　もしかしてすごく疲れているかも？と実感しました。毎日が楽しくて、週末も旅行にいろいろと出かけていたので少々疲れが出たのかもしれません。そんなわけで今日はお休みデー。家でのんびりエスプレッソを飲みながら、学生レポートを書いたりして過ごしました。そうそう、こちらに来て叔母バカがさく裂（笑）弟に今年の3月に赤ちゃんが生まれたのですが、本当にかわいくて、男の子なんですが、こんなの買っちゃいました！スペインでもバックプリントのかわいいフード付きを。赤ちゃんなのでまだ早いんですが、今から絶対かわいいだろうとにやけてます、笑

7/19 Day 6
Today is field trip day. At Reachi, there is a field trip to a town near Florence once every two weeks! When you come on a short trip, you don’t usually get to choose where to go, so I always look forward to these trips. This time, we went to Pisa, which is about an hour by train from Florence. Mr. Giovanni and interpreter Kanae always accompany us. They are both truly wonderful. It was a bit cooler that day, and we walked through the charming streets from the station to the square with the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. When we arrived at the square, we were surprised to see so many tourists. Apparently, Pisa is the second most popular tourist destination in Tuscany after Florence.

今日は遠足の日です。リアチでは2週間に一度フィレンツェ近郊の街へ遠足があるのです！短期の旅行でくると、なかなかチョイスできないローカルな場所に連れて行ってもらえるので、毎回楽しみにしているのですが、今回はピサへ。フィレンツェから電車で1時間ほどです。いつも引率してくれるのはMr.ジョバンニと通訳のかなえさん。二人とも本当に素晴らしいです。この日は少し涼し目で、駅からかわいらしい街並みを通って、あの有名なピサの斜塔のある広場へ。広場にきてびっくり、ここにはたくさんの観光客がいます。トスカーナ周辺では、フィレンツェの次に観光客が多い場所なんだそうです。

On the way to the square, we stopped at a cute café for tea and to use the restroom. Of course, we wanted to climb the Leaning Tower! So we bought tickets, but when we checked the electronic board with the time slots, we saw that there was an opening at 2:45 p.m. We decided to eat lunch first and then climb the tower. There are 300 steps. I’m glad I wore sneakers, haha.
For lunch, we went to a panini shop a little further down the square. Since I discovered how delicious wild boar meat is here, I chose the Wilde Boar Salami panini today. The meat has a rich flavor and goes well with the pickled peppers! We enjoyed eating while chatting. Most of the students are from Europe, so just talking to them makes me feel like I’ve already traveled to many countries. Before we knew it, it was time for our reservation at the Leaning Tower, so the group going up and the group going back said goodbye here. We returned to the square and climbed the Leaning Tower. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was built at an angle due to the ground conditions. As soon as you climb up, you can feel the tilt! It’s like some kind of gravitational mystery, and climbing feels like participating in an attraction, haha. We all chatted and laughed our way to the top! The 300 steps weren’t as tough as I thought they would be. And the breeze coming into the tower along the way was so refreshing… I felt like having a beer or something here, haha.
The view was also very beautiful. There’s a Japanese anime called “Attack on Titan,” and the townscape in it reminds me so much of the Tuscan townscape (especially the one with the city walls) that I wonder if it was modeled after it. The story is very brutal, but the cityscapes depicted are incredibly beautiful. Looking at the city walls, I couldn’t help but imagine the story and felt a little scared, haha.
On the way back, we stopped by a gelato shop known for its delicious treats. I usually go for something creamy, but since I’d sweated a lot today, I opted for raspberry and yogurt. Tuscany is famous for its delicious fruits, and I feel like the fruit-flavored gelato here is especially tasty.

広場に行く途中でかわいいカフェでちょっとお茶して、トイレを借りたりしながら広場へ。もちろんあの斜塔に上ってみたいですよね？！ということで、さっそくチケットを買いますが、時間指定の電光掲示板を見ると、午後の14：45に空きが！先にお昼を食べてから、塔に上ることにしました。階段は300段あるそうです。スニーカーできてよかった、笑
お昼は広場のちょっと先？にあるパニーニやさんで。私はこちらにきてイノシシ肉のおいしさに目覚め、今日もWilde Boar Salamiとあったのでそのパニーニにしました。お肉の味わいが深くて、ピーマンのピクルスとマッチしておいしいです！みんなでおしゃべりしながら楽しく食べます。生徒さんはやはりヨーロッパからが多いので、話しているだけですでにいろいろな国に旅行に行っているような気分になります。そうこうするうちに、斜塔の予約の時間になったので、登る組と帰る組はここでバイバイ。私たちはまた広場に戻り、斜塔を登ります。地盤のせいで作っている最中に斜めになってしまったというピサの斜塔。上るとすでにその傾きを感じることができます！なんか重力の不思議、登りながら何かのアトラクションに参加しているような、笑　みんなでワイワイいいながら上まで登りました！思ったよりも300段はきつくなかったです。そして途中途中、塔に入ってくる風の気持ちよいことといったら。。。ここでビールか何かを飲みたくなります、笑
景色もとてもきれい。進撃の巨人（英語名はattack on titan）という日本のアニメがあるのですが、あの街並みはトスカーナの街並み（特に城壁のある）をモデルにしたのではないか？と思えるほどです。ストーリーは非常に残酷ですが、描かれる街並みはとても美しいです。城壁を見て、ちょっとストーリーを想像して怖くなりました、笑
帰りにおいしいと評判のジェラートやさんへ。いつもクリーミーなものにするのですが、今日は汗もたくさんかいたので、ラズベリーとヨーグルトにしました。フルーツがとてもおいしいトスカーナ、やはりジェラートはフルーツ味がとてもおいしい気がします。

7/20 Day 7
Today, I visited a winery near Florence. I joined a tour that combined wine tasting and pasta making. I traveled to a town called Torre, about an hour’s drive from Florence. It was a lot of fun to take a short trip by train and bus. It was my first time participating in a tour alone, so I was a little nervous, but the female tour guide was very humorous and friendly, and she guided us in a way that made everyone feel relaxed by introducing herself and others. Even though we were all strangers, we had a great time talking and enjoying the tour. There were a lot of Americans, so it felt like I was in the US, haha. There was also a three-generation family from Brazil. They were all doctors and dentists, so we all laughed and said we’d be in good hands if we ever got sick.
When we entered the winery, as expected, Italy is known for Sangiovese (a grape variety), and we were given an explanation about the various organic wines made from it. It was very hot that day, so everyone was eager to drink the chilled wine. The beautiful winery had many pets, and we were guided around while feeding apples to the pigs and turtles. Then came the much-anticipated tasting. Before that, we watched a short movie about the winery. During the tasting, small amuse-bouches were served alongside the wine. It was a blissful moment to slowly savor the color and aroma of the wine. I prefer red wine, and on this day, I was able to enjoy three different types, which was very satisfying. I purchased two bottles of full-bodied red wine. After that, we had a ravioli-making lesson. The woman teaching us was very humorous, and since my making wasn’t very good, she did most of it for me, laughing. She kneaded the dough with incredible strength and rolled it out into small pieces. Then she filled them with ricotta cheese and lemon-flavored filling to complete the ravioli. While the ravioli were boiling, we enjoyed Chianti and bruschetta while chatting. My daughter is American, so everyone got excited talking about their children. After the meal, we had dessert and coffee (in Italy, coffee refers to espresso), and it was a very enjoyable and satisfying tour! I highly recommend it (it’s a tour called “Get Your Guide”).
The wine I bought on the way back was so heavy that I immediately bought a carry-on suitcase upon arriving in Florence. When I asked, “Can I put a few things in here?” and took out two bottles of wine from my backpack, the store clerk burst into laughter. When I said, “Everyone should finish work early and go out for a drink,” they replied, “We will!” with a strong tone, laughing. Thank you for your hard work on Sunday as well…

今日はフィレンツェ近郊のワイナリーへ行ってみました。ワインテイスティングとパスタメイキングのコースが一緒になったツアーに入ったのです。フィレンツェから車で1時間ほどのトッレという街まで行きました。電車やバスで小旅行をするのはとても楽しいです。一人でツアーに参加するのは初めてだったのでちょっと緊張しましたが、ツアーガイドの女性がとってもユーモアたっぷり、フレンドリーでみんながリラックスできるように自己紹介等を交えてガイドしてくれたので、皆初対面でしたが話が弾みとても楽しいツアーとなりました。なぜかアメリカ人が多くて、まるでアメリカにいるみたいでした、笑　あとはブラジルから来たという3世代のご家族。皆さんお医者さんと歯医者さんで、これは具合が悪くなっても安心だと皆で笑っていました。
ワイナリーに入ると、やはりイタリアといえばサンジョベーゼ（ブドウの品種）で、それを使ったオーガニックワインのあれこれを説明してもらいました。この日はとても暑かったので、皆冷えたワインを早く飲みたくてたまりません。美しいワイナリーにはたくさんのペットがいて、豚ちゃんやら亀やらにおやつのリンゴを上げたりしながら、ワイナリーを案内してもらいます。そしてお待ちかねのテイスティング。その前にワイナリーにまつわるショートムービーを見ました。テイスティングでは、ワインに合わせて小さなアミューズとともにサーブされます。ワインの色や香りをたのしみながらゆっくりと味わう至福の時。私は赤ワインが好きなのですが、この日はたっぷり3種類も楽しむことができ、大満足。しっかりめの赤を二本、お買い上げしました。そしてそのあと、ラビオリ作りのレッスンです。教えてくれる女性がとてもユーモアたっぷりで、私のメイキングはよろしくなかったのか、もういいから、とほとんどやってくれました、笑　ものすごい力でこねて小さく生地を伸ばしていきます。そこにリコッタチーズとレモンの味のついた中身を入れてラビオリの完成です。各々のラビオリがゆでてられているあいだ、キャンティとブルスケッタを楽しみながらおしゃべりタイム。私の娘もアメリカンなのでみんな子供の話やらで盛り上がります。食後はデザートとコーヒー（イタリアではコーヒーとはエスプレッソを指すようです）も出てとても楽しく満足度の高いツアーでした！おすすめです（Get your guideというツアーです）
帰りに買ったワインがあまりに重くて、フィレンツェについてすぐにキャリーオンのスーツケースをかってしまいました。ちょっと荷物を入れてもいい？とリュックからワインを二本出すと店員さんが爆笑。みんなも早く仕事を終えて飲みにいかなきゃね？といったら、そうするわ！と力強く言ってました、笑　日曜日もお仕事お疲れ様です。。。
