医師として忙しく働きながら、ジュエリーメイキングに興味を持ち、アカデミアリアチへ留学経験のあった親戚の紹介で、今回サマーコースへの参加を決意。
「もともと大好きなジュエリーの、初めての製作に6週間挑戦。初めてのフィレンツェへ。」

Jewelry Making Summer Course (#3) – R.T.
This week, I’m making a signet ring. I designed the top surface as a rectangle.
My previous pieces had many curves, but this time I focused on straight lines and vertical angles, carefully shaping it into a precise rectangle.
今週はシグネットリングを作ります。上面を長方形のデザインにしました。
今までの作品は曲線が多かったですが、直線と垂直を意識して、正確な長方形に削っていきます。
To fit the side plates onto the ring, I adjusted their shape. I had to be careful not to leave gaps or make them too tight, so I carefully carved and welded them.
リングに側面の板をはめ込むために、板の形を調整していきます。隙間ができてもはまらなくてもダメなので、慎重に削り、溶接します。
Finally, I finished it by carving and polishing!
最後に削って磨いて完成しました！
My next piece will be a ring design I’ve wanted to try, and I’ll also tackle stone setting.
This time, I’ll make the plates thicker than usual. Considering the fit, I’ll carve them to taper toward the back, but it looks simple yet is incredibly difficult.
次の作品は、自分が作ってみたかったデザインのリングで、石留にも挑戦していきます。
今回はいつもより板を分厚くして作ります。はめ心地も考えて、裏側にかけて細くなっていくように削っていくのですが、簡単なようでとても難しいです。
This week’s ArtVisit took us to the Basilica of Santo Spirito. Photography wasn’t allowed, but the crucifix, said to be Michelangelo’s work at age 18, is definitely worth seeing.
Dinner with friends in the evening.
今週のArtVisitはサント・スピリット聖堂に行きました。撮影はできなかったのですが、ミケランジェロが18歳のときの作品とされる、十字架像は一見の価値ありです。
夜は友人とディナーへ。
Over the weekend, I visited several places. First, the Vatican Museums in Vatican City. It was vast, packed with highlights, and overwhelmingly impressive. Those paintings I’d seen in textbooks were right before my eyes.
週末は色んな所へ行きました。まずは、バチカン市国にあるバチカン美術館へ。とても広くてっ見どころも多く、圧倒されるものばかりでした。教科書で見たあの絵が目の前に。
I also went to Milan. It’s a sophisticated city, and seeing the famous Duomo in person—something I’d seen countless times in photos and videos—was awe-inspiring. The sheer scale and intricate carvings were breathtaking.
ミラノにも行きました。洗練された都会で、今まで写真や映像では何度も見たことのある、有名なデゥオモも実物の迫力と、彫刻の細かさに感動しました。
For meals, I tried Milanese specialties—both were delicious and very satisfying.
食事はミラノ名物を食べて、どちらも美味しく大満足。
From Milan, I joined a tour to Lake Como, Bellagio, and Lake Lugano (Switzerland). The pleasant tranquility made simply strolling along the lakeshore very enjoyable.
ミラノ発で、コモ湖、ベラージオ、ルガーノ湖（スイス）へ行くツアーに参加。程よい静けさがあって、湖沿いを散策するだけでも心地よかったです。
At Lake Como, I took a boat ride. The breeze felt wonderful.
コモ湖ではボートに乗りました。風が気持ちよかったです。

At Accademia Riaci, we are recruiting Course Reporters from our students. The students who are chosen to become Course Reporters are given 10 % of the tuition as their scholarship fee.
The Reporters who have submitted excellent reports will have his or her profile posted on our school website for the next 5 years as an alumnae and will be able to connect with their business chancesafter their graduation.
