日本の大学でグラフィックデザインや工芸などを学んできた大学生です。自分の一番好きなジュエリーの制作について学びたいと思い、4週間のジュエリーデザインコースに参加しました。

I am a university student who has studied graphic design and crafts at a Japanese university. I joined the 4-week jewelry design course because I wanted to learn about jewelry making, which is what I love the most.

Jewelry Making Short Course (#01) – A.T.

Jewelry Making blog In the first class, we practiced cutting a brass plate with a thread saw and made a simple ring. The teacher was very kind and the interpreter was a jewelry specialist and very reliable.

初回の授業では真鍮の板を糸鋸で切る練習をし、シンプルな指輪の制作をしました。先生はとても優しく、通訳さんもジュエリー専門の方でとても頼りになりました。
Jewelry Making blog I completed a ring in the first 4 hours of class, I was worried about how much I could do in the limited time of 4 weeks, but I was happy that I could make one piece in one class. I am now looking forward to future classes even more.

初回の4時間の授業で指輪が完成しました。4週間の限られた期間なので、どこまでできるか心配でしたが、1回の授業で1つの作品ができて嬉しかったです。これからの授業がもっと楽しみになりました。
Jewelry Making blog I ate pumpkin ravioli I bought at the supermarket with my roommate. Ravioli is a pasta dough with ingredients sandwiched between two sheets of pasta dough, which I did not know until I came to Italy. It is a major food that you can always find in Italian restaurants. The ingredients inside vary from cheese to meat, and there are many kinds of sauces and they are very tasty.

スーパーで買ったカボチャのラビオリをルームメイトと一緒に食べました。ラビオリは二枚のパスタの生地の間に具材を挟んだもので、イタリアに来て初めて知りました。イタリアのお店では必ずあるメジャーな食べ物で、中の食材はチーズや肉など様々、ソースも種類が豊富でとても美味しいです。
Jewelry Making blog A bookstore in Florence. Florence has many bookstores, pharmacies, gelato shops, and souvenir shops. The bookstore had a lot of art books and there were many books that I wanted even if I don’t understand Italian.

フィレンツェの本屋さん。フィレンツェは本屋や薬局、ジェラート屋さん、お土産屋さんがたくさんあります。本屋にはアート系の本がたくさんあって、イタリア語がわからなくても欲しい本がたくさんありました。
Jewelry Making blog The second jewelry making class. We made a grape leaf pendant top using a silver plate. It had more parts than the brass ring I made the first time, and it required welding, etc., so I was not able to complete it. I hope to weld it soon.

2回目のジュエリーメイキングの授業。シルバーの板を使い、ぶどうの葉のペンダントトップを作りました。初回に作った真鍮の指輪よりもパーツが多く、溶接なども必要になるので、完成には至りませんでした。早く溶接したいです。
Jewelry Making blog After the class, someone from the same course took us to Ponte Vecchio. Ponte Vecchio was lined with jewelry stores all the way to the right and left, and it was a great place for jewelry lovers.

授業後、同じコースの方がヴェッキオ橋に連れていってくれました。ヴェッキオ橋は右も左もずっとジュエリー屋さんが立ち並んでいて、ジュエリー好きの人にとってはたまらない場所でした。
Jewelry Making blog We also participated in the free Art Visit. This time, the theme was Dome Square, and the teacher explained about the entire Santa Maria Cathedral and the surrounding buildings. The photo shows the workshop where replicas of the sculptures are made.

自由参加のArt Visitにも参加しました。今回はDome Squareがテーマで、先生がサンタマリア大聖堂の全体や、周辺の建物について解説してくださいました。写真は、彫刻のレプリカを作る工房の様子です。
Jewelry Making blog On days when we did not have classes, we went on a gelato tour with Japanese members of other courses. Gelato has many flavors that are not available in Japan, and the taste varies from store to store, so it will be the food I will eat the most during my stay in Florence.

授業のない日は、ほかのコースの日本人メンバーの皆さんとジェラートめぐりをしました。ジェラートは日本にないフレーバーが多く、お店によって味も違うので、フィレンツェにいる間に最もたくさん食べる食べ物になりそうです。
Jewelry Making blog We also went to a bakery run by a Japanese man. I had a rice pudding tart (?) which I had never seen before. It tasted like a custard pie and I didn’t feel much rice.

日本人の方がやっているパン屋さんにも行きました。初めて見たお米のプディングのタルト(?)を食べましたが、味はカスタードパイのような感じで、お米はあまり感じませんでした。
Jewelry Making blog In the evening, five Japanese went to Osteria. There are various types of restaurants such as ristorante, trattoria, and osteria, but the osteria was more like a tavern. At the end of the meal, we made paper cranes with paper napkins, which was appreciated by the waiter.

夜は日本人5人でオステリアに行きました。リストランテ、トラットリア、オステリアなど様々な種類の飲食店がありますが、オステリアは居酒屋のような感じでした。最後に紙ナプキンで折り鶴を作っておくと、店員さんに喜ばれました。
