Overview
The program's curriculum emphasizes creativity and self-expression and is designed to provide students with life-enriching skills. The major in Painting & Drawing prepares to become either a self-employed artist or to pursue a master of fine arts. Self-employed artists show and sell work in galleries, museums and a variety of other venues.
Students will study not only drawing and painting, but also art appreciation, art history, design, and other studio arts.
They will have access to instruction in a wide range of techniques. Our faculties reflect the diversity and plurality of contemporary painting, while being grounded in traditional and historical methods and precepts.
An awareness of the breadth of what has been done in the past and what is being done in the present encourages students to relate their practice to both history and the contemporary context.
Students will spend a lot of time in studio classes creating original works, studying aspects of the field and examining a variety of media with which to work.
After completing intermediate painting or drawing, your portfolio is reviewed by the drawing and painting faculty to determine if you can continue in the program. Before graduation, each student must exhibit his/her work in a show, which serves as an exit review.
The studio art faculties are artists in their respective fields, maintaining private studios and gallery contacts.
Each exhibits widely and travels extensively to maintain current and high status in their field.
One-Year Course (Diploma)
The One-Year Course offers a comprehensive and accelerated program, giving a unique opportunity to acquire a wide range of knowledge and techniques related to the field of study.
Along with practical classes of the major subject - combined with challenging homework and assignments – our Basic Art Lessons will provide students with fundamentals of Italian arts and design.
Furthermore, they will broaden and enrich their artistic experience - looking beyond the borders of your specialty – through our weekly guided Art Visits and monthly Art Stages.
Through this program, students will not only acquire a solid foundation in fine arts but also develop specific, advanced skills, immersed in a stimulating learning environment.
Diplomas are issued to those who pass the final exam.

Overview
The Painting and Drawing Master Course is addressed to advanced students who are highly motivated, self-directed, and committed to the disciplines of painting and drawing. In our Master, students work closely with a dedicated faculty of many professors who, in their work, represent a broad range of contemporary painting and drawing. We encourage the cultivation and examination of each student’s vision within the discipline. Instruction is conducted primarily by the tutorial method. Candidates work independently in their studios with oversight provided by faculties. At the end of a year, the faculties meet with each student to appraise progress towards the diploma. These tutorials are supplemented with graduate classes. A Seminar is also offered, which focuses on diverse issues and fosters interaction among Master students across studio disciplines. A comprehensive education in drawing and painting stresses both breadth and depth. An awareness of the breadth of what is being done in the present and what has been done in the past encourages students to relate their practice to both the current context and earlier historical ones. With this in mind, we require the study of art history, theory, and criticism to complement studio work. Our program majors and Master's students profit by the experience of a rigorous conservatory education compounded with the breadth of exposure that such Accademia Riaci affords. The one-year of study toward the Master in Fine Arts culminates in a thesis exhibition.
