Overview
The Jewelry department focus on the design skills that are necessary to succeed as a designer:
a) Through our programs and customized instructions - according to each participant’s level and goal - we encourage students to explore and develop their own expressive style, elaborating self-directed projects and research.
b) Projects encompass conventional formats, such as brooches, rings, and earrings, as well as experimental designs, both wearable and non-wearable.
c) Students will also be introduced to business practice, necessary to start up their new professional career.
In the Jewelry Design course, students will be introduced to graphical representation techniques of jewels and gemstones, learning effectively how to merge aesthetics with functionality. First, students will be introduced to hand-sketching techniques, and then develop their personal projects through the use of professional software, exploring their own aesthetic sense and originality. The curriculum addresses many topics, including the study of the light refraction, color theory, technical drawing, perspective drawing, gemology.
These programs offer a unique opportunity to acquire a wide range of knowledge and techniques related to the jewelry design area. Along with practical classes of the major subject - combined with challenging homework and assignments – our Basic Italian Art Lessons will provide students with the fundamentals of Italian arts and design. Furthermore, students will broaden and enrich their artistic experience - looking beyond the borders of your specialty – through our weekly guided Art Visits and monthly Art Stages.
Through this program, students will not only acquire a solid foundation in their study area but also they will develop specific and advanced skills, immersed in a stimulating learning environment. Moreover, they will have the chance to learn basic business practices, to start up their career as young professionals. Diploma certificates are issued to those who pass a final exam.
