One-Year Course ・ Semester Course

Overview

We emphasize conceptual exploration and the acquisition of historical, critical and theoretical knowledge. Additionally, we feel the production of works of art (learning through the experience of making) and technical development are essential ingredients for a successful studio artist. We are interested in students that understand tradition and embrace the making of useful objects, as well as students who feel there may be new traditions to develop and new boundaries to expand. Consequently, the range of students' work, is very broad, from sculpture and installation to utilitarian objects. This course offers a unique opportunity to acquire a wide range of knowledge and techniques related to ceramics.
Along with practical classes of your major subject - combined with challenging homework and assignments – our Basic Art Lessons will provide you with fundamentals of arts and design. Furthermore, you will broaden and enrich your artistic experience - looking beyond the borders of your specialty – through our weekly guided Art Visits and monthly Art Stages.
Through this program, you will not only acquire a solid foundation in your study area but also develop specific, advanced skills, immersed in a stimulating learning environment.
Moreover, you will have the chance to learn basic business practices, to start up your career as a young professional. Diplomas are issued to those who pass the final exam.

Please note that our Ceramics classes take place in a professional laboratory, located outside the school in Florence.

Teachers

Our ceramics teachers, Prof. Tricca, Prof. Bittoni e Prof Murro, have participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Along with their decades of experience as pottery professionals, they also teach with enthusiasm to students. They have participated in various international exhibitions, with buyers from Italy and abroad. In their atelier they produce objects of high artistic value and full of poetic sensibility, taking inspirations from natural elements, fantastic landscapes, imaginary animals, with simple lines and a solid sense of colors.
