作品を木枠に張り込んでいきます。この作業のために付け足した張りしろの布のみを引っ張るため、作品自体には負荷がかからないようになっています。張り込んだ後は、邪魔にならないよう木枠の裏面に貼り付けます。

欠損の詰め物を作っているところです。膨潤させておいた膠を湯煎でとかし、ふるいにかけた石膏をすこしずつ加えていき、最後に静かにかき混ぜます。使用するときは、膠のタンパク質が変質してしまわないよう一定温度以下で温め、保存は冷蔵でと、温度管理が重要です。

石膏の詰め物を欠損部分に筆で詰めていきます。100以上ある欠損に、隙間なく適度な高さでとなると、それだけでもなかなか時間がかかります。中の水分が完全に乾くまで約一晩待ち、絵画層の高さまで専用の刃物で削っていきます。
