May 12 (Mon) 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Private Italian lesson. Conversation-focused lesson that will be useful for my internship. I learned some common Italian phrases, and the hour flew by.

May 14 (Wed) Today, I felt like eating sushi, so I went to the supermarket after work to look for tuna. The fish situation is different from Japan, so I bought tuna labeled “FRESH.” I thoroughly removed the fishy smell and marinated it. Trying to make local ingredients into whatever you feel like eating is also one of the joys of studying abroad.

May 15 (Thu) Today, while at work, we talked about Japanese food, and I mentioned that I like foods made by mixing eggs, flour, and vegetables and then baking them… Omelette? The conversation flowed smoothly using the Italian I had studied. However, the food in question was okonomiyaki. I really wanted to eat it, so I made okonomiyaki today.
