This summer, I traveled to Florence, Italy, to take a two-week summer course during my university break.
It was a valuable experience where I intensively studied bag making, delving into the depth of craftsmanship and experiencing European culture.

From handling leather to using tools, the instructor carefully guided each of us individually.
The process of combining parts, stitching them together, and watching it take shape was a continuous source of wonder.
The finished bag became a one-of-a-kind piece, “a creation made by my own hands.”

Florence is world-renowned not only for Renaissance art but also as a city of leather goods.
Leather workshops dot the city, where skilled artisans carry on traditional techniques to this day.
Learning in such an environment allowed me to experience more than just acquiring skills; it offered a precious encounter with “authentic craftsmanship” – another compelling aspect of this course.

この夏、大学の夏休みを利用して2週間のサマーコースを受講するため、イタリア・フィレンツェへ。
バッグメイキングを集中的に学び、ものづくりの奥深さとヨーロッパの文化に触れた貴重な体験でした。

革の扱い方から工具の使い方まで、講師が一人ひとり丁寧に指導してくれました。
パーツを組み合わせ、縫い合わせ、形になっていく過程は感動の連続。
完成したバッグは、世界にひとつだけの“自分の手で作った作品”になりました。

フィレンツェは、ルネサンス芸術だけでなく、革製品の街としても世界的に有名です。
街のいたるところに革工房があり、熟練の職人たちが伝統技術を今に伝えています。
そんな環境の中で学ぶことで、単なる技術習得にとどまらず、“本物のものづくり”に触れる貴重な経験ができるのも、このコースの魅力です。
