Oil spills are reported each year in the United States, which can stick around for years, tainting the country’s waters. Highlight the devastating effects of spills using tears of dripping oil. Include aquatic flora and fauna at risk around oil spills. Color scheme based on America’s nation colors.

CONCEPT :

Scenes from the Ramayana, the ancient Hindu Epic which has a high cultural value and has exalted impression. Expressed the figures of the human being with certain movements, man-maid objects and natural events which functioned as a balance, using three primary colors of red, yellow and blue.

The base of the project is the mix of perfect harmony of comfort and contemporary. An interior design of an apartment for a female student who studies journalism. The purpose is to unite the confortable tone and modern part which awake her desire of creation.

TITLE : Motifs of India

NAME : Harleen Kaur Dhillon

CONCEPT :

The three sources of inspiration for this design are: Ambi (mango), Ardh Chandra (half moon) and the peafowl’s feathers. These motifs are most widely used as they symbolize India, mango (national fruit), moon (luna calendar) and the peafowl (one of the most endangered species of India).

I want to introduce the traditional culture elements of China that not only exist in China but also having influence on other countries, mixing important symbols of China: crane, fan and knot. The whole neckless means happiness, good fortune to people who wear it.

TITLE : 西遊記-Journey to the West

CONCEPT :

This necklace is the combination of many different motifs. Journey to the West, the story of my country China, a shadow play, movement of the Chinese martial arts Kung Fu and three pictographic characters. I designed this work so that the people who does non know about this story can enjoy the originality of Chinese culture.


TITLE : True Colours of Malaysia

CONCEPT :

The three main cultures of Malaysia are the inspiration for this design. The design of this earring represents the shape of dome mosque, the dominant religion. Different gemstones symbolizes the three man ethnic groups – Malays, Chinese and Indians and inspired by the traditional item of their celebration. The entire design illustrates a multi cultural, ethnic and religious country.

CONCEPT :

I was inspired by the Korean peninsula and the national flag of South Korea. The peninsula looks like a tiger so I designed the face of this animal. Also I used the color of the national flag which is red, blue and black. The flag is called Taegeukgi which symbolizes peace, harmony and humanism of all human beings.

I employ a tactic of the unexpected and the unknown to my advantage to introduce new styles of facilitating materials, combining them to achieve the perfect combination of varies elements for jewelry. I have been inspired by the strong women in my life and their capability of carrying on with elegance and class, also by nature and manmade forces of recovery or destruction.

NAME : Sofya Bryantseva

CONCEPT :

I wanted to create multifunctional jewelry objects which reflects the flavor of my country, buttons. In the past, the button was considered on the most important magical amulets to deter hostile forces. In Russian language the noun “button” (pugovitsa) and the verb to “scare” (pugat) are cognate. I would like to revive an interest not ordinary buttons like a hand-made talismans and make them gorgeous and important clothing accessory.

CONCEPT :

Chile is located between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, offering an array of landscapes product of its 17 climates. The composition of the piece represents the characteristic of my country: diversity of the nature. Used copper the main export product, Copihue, the national flower, inspired by the Mapuche jewels.

A caricature is a portrait that exaggerates the essence of a person to create an easily identifiable visual likeness. I represent a caricature of a Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage, one of the politician in Sri Lanka.


TITLE : Listen to the hear beat of Hong Kong

NAME : Tan Jun Ting

NATIONALITY : China

CONCEPT :

It is a love story of Hong Kong, between the girl from mainland China and the boy from South Korea. They both studied at the same school but never met before. They fell in love right away and decided to stay in Hong Kong, not knowing about their future. Their love is the shadow of the city the fast speed and colorful city.

TITLE : My two countries, Albania & Greece

NAME : Margarita Naka

CONCEPT :

I was born in Albania but now I live in Greece. In my work there are traditional influences and remarkable culture spots of both countries: architecture, dance, animal, musical instrument and so on. On the top I painted a pigeon as the symbol of peace. My paintings are inside the fruit of life.

CONCEPT :

Important to me is the idea of using materials that would otherwise become waste. By giving these materials another purpose to intend to show their value and beauty. Making contemporary jewelry out of these materials is an ideal way for me to express the value I believe exist in these waste products. The materials become evaluated from junk do something meaningful and therefore give new life. To me, contemporary jewelry can express many things. It can be about expressions of form, color, texture and pattern. It can be political or it can be about the character of the maker, the wearer or the viewer. My focus is on material exploration to create wearable art jewelry. I want to make the wearer and viewer happy, to smile and to enjoy wearing this work.

CONCEPT :

My project is based on the idea of creating a new room at Uffizi Gallery in Florence that would exhibit elements of traditional Asian culture from my country, Thailand, and Europe. I propose a jewelry design concept that merges Asian and Western aesthetic values, inspired in traditional Thai and Italian Renaissance art styles. Crafted by blending traditional fabric pattern, painting with architecture of Thailand and the sculpture and painting from Uffizi Gallery. The concept is the result of a syncretic approach in which West and East not only meet but also mingle harmoniously with each other to create a new rich and hybrid form of art.

The idea of this jewelry set came from the ancient symbol of Tetramorph, a symbolic arrangement of our differing elements. Usage of technics of bending, soldering and engraving is inspired by classical style of filigree, widely spread on Urals.
