Jewelry Design vol.18 – One Year 2018 (a.l.y)

Jewelry Design blog
We can use one perspective view of a ring as shown in the picture, to determine how it will look like in another angle of perspective view.

Jewelry Design blog
Go into practice, by using the two guidelines to determine angles of a perspective view, and we can get results that we want.

Jewelry Design blog
Instead of using ruler and template, it is better to sketch free hand to practice.

After all, practice makes perfect. This example is slightly challenging in interpreting the position of the stone of the ring.

Jewelry Design blog
Freehand sketch of different ovals to practice guidelines of ring drawing.

Finally, we start on drawings of jewellery in real life — a simple ring with a large cabochon.

Jewelry Design blog
First, we have to understand the position affects views of the cabochon. Imagine three papers are sticking inside the cabochon which represent the three edges. Then connect the three edges to compete for shape.

Sketches that are done on this ring in various perspective views.

More practices, this time it is better than the last.
