Furniture Design vol.17 – Master Course 2018 (s.s)

I finally decided on what my next project would be, and that is to make a lighting fixture. I’m currently doing some research on the different kinds of lights in order for me to give an idea on what type of light I’m going to make. I’m also thinking for a concept for my lighting fixture.

On today’s class, our teacher showed us few videos of different designers and their works. He showed to us a video of “The Highway Church” by Giovanni Michelucci. I just love how you can see the curvilinear movement of the church from the exterior and interior. It reminds me of the Tuscan hills.

On today’s art visit, we went to San Miniato al Monte. This Romanesque basilica is located at the hills in Florence, near Piazzale Michelangelo and it has a great view of the city. When we went inside, I was immediately amazed by the patterns and details are found from the floor to the ceiling. The church is very beautiful from the interior to the exterior.

Over spring break, I decided to go to Napoli. I just wandered around the city, ate a lot of pizza, and enjoyed the beautiful view of Mt. Vesuvius. I had a great time there! Napoli, for me, is very beautiful. The place is a bit rough but its roughness balances the beauty surrounding it.

On the first Sunday of the month, I went to Uffizi with some of my schoolmates. I finally got to see the “Birth of Venus”, “Medusa”, and other works of different artists. The museum was huge and spent about 3 hours there. Even though we were so tired, we really enjoyed the artworks there.
