Taught in Italian Only
Through the exploration of the art and architecture of interior design, students solve problems in residential, commercial, public, and special use spaces. Students work closely with faculty in a studio environment similar to the professional, multidisciplinary philosophy and foster the creation of humane environments for people. Visualization and communications skills, as well as a strong technical component, provide a basis for the education of designers who will become creative problem solvers and leaders in various fields of interior design. Individual work experiences and actual and collaborative projects in the community and with industry expose students to current and future issues. The program emphasizes design methodology, fabrication skills, and presentation techniques, allowing students to effectively express their designs through drawings, models and full-scale finished pieces. Regular field trips, along with lectures and seminars by visiting designers, manufacturers and artists, broaden students’ awareness of Interior design issues. Students also have the opportunity to develop ties with the professional design community. The Interior Design department in Accademia Riaci offers Interior design, Furniture design and Interior Coordinator concentration. Graduates of the program look forward to positions in architecture, interior design, visual merchandising, and exhibit design.
