Italy is the heart of leather art such as shoes, bag and leather art design and making. We offer great opportunities to study shoes, bag and leather art design and making in Florence, Italy. The Master Program in Leather Art is intended to provide students with a comprehensive view of the leather Art industry and the essential elements for success. Leather Art Program offers an opportunity for students to express both creative and technical skills while acquiring a working understanding of how to design, produce, merchandise, and market leather products. Accademia Riaci has superior contacts in the Industry of Leather Art that translate into real career opportunities. The Department has an excellent faculty of industry professionals who teach the creative, technical and business aspects of Leather Art. In response to the demand for well-trained designers and makers in specialized shoes, bags and leather art area in Italy, Accademia Riaci has established One-Year Course in Leather Art. Italian Shoes, bags and leather art are prestige for the design, techniques and quality in the world. The goals and purpose of this course are to expand the student’s knowledge and skills in leather art to additional areas and to prepare them to assume more advanced positions in the field. Students build on their exiting knowledge with hands-on experience designing and manufacturing textiles used in leather such as handbags, shoes, book cover and belts, and manipulating these textiles into finished products. Additional expertise in expanded areas such as athletics footwear, theatrical and character footwear, and bag. The students can concentrate on Shoes Design, Bag Design, Shoes Making, Bag Making, Shoes,and Bag. Job opportunities in this area: Shoes designer, bag designer, shoes maker and bag maker.

Short Course

Angero Imperatole, Libio Battista, Davide Bicci

Studio instructors are from a line of family, who has been making leather goods in generations. The studio is located in the area where aristocratic buildings are lined up. The instructor will show students every step of leather crafts in easy comprehensive manner. Design instructors will take you out to out-of-school lessons at Ferragamo Shoes Museum if you prefer. He will help you to draw your best sensibility and design expressions for the latest design work of the world.

Remarks column

As you know shoes and bags made by Ferragamo and Gucci are famous for their high quality. You will learn every aspect of designing shoes and bags from Florence’s craftsmen with the top skills. Students with no previous experiences can start from easy pocketbook and if you already have experiences, you will make your own original work.

The courses available are;

Shoe Making (8 weeks ~)
Shoe Design (2 weeks ~)

You can take from 2 weeks course for bag making and shoes/bag design, however, if you are interested in shoe MAKING, you need to take at least 8 weeks course in order to complete a whole process in which you will learn every step of techniques prized as the world’s best leather art of Italy.

*Shoe Design, Bag Design combined with Shoe Making course or Bag Making course have different from regular Shoe or Bag Design course. Please refer to the price list.
